| The Top 10 Internet Do's and Don'ts Every Parent Must Know! |
Make your child's online experience much more safe, by following these 10 Internet DO'S and DON'TS!
1. Do surf the Internet with your children. Spend some one on one time with your child while on the Internet. Encourage your child to share their favorite sites with you.
2. Don't give away secure information. Explain to your children that they should never tell anyone their real name, address, phone number, or other personal information.
3. Do teach good behavior (netiquette). Teach your children the proper way to interact with others.
4. Don't allow your children to meet online friends in person. Most often, your child's online friend is probably somebody just like them. However, there is the chance that the online friend could be somebody entirely different.
5. Do screen your child’s emails. Don't allow them to open any e-mails from strangers.
6. Don't allow your children to put pictures of themselves on the Internet.
7. Don't give away your password. Make sure your children know they are never to give their password to anyone. Nobody will ask them, and they should never give it without your permission.
8. Do log off. If anyone makes your child feel uncomfortable, weary, or sad they should log off immediately and tell an adult.
9. Do manage your children's time on the Internet. Schedule times when your child can be on the Internet. One of the biggest mistakes a parent can make is giving their child free-reign on the Internet.
10. Don't allow computers in your child's bedroom. Keeping computers in an open area will reduce risks. |
